Martha Plimpton

Martha Campbell Plimpton (born November 16, 1970) is an American film and stage actress, voice actress, singer, and model. She is well known for her roles in films, such as Stef Steinbrenner in 1985's The Goonies, Julie Buckman in 1989's Parenthood, the title character in the 1991 film, Samantha, and Jan in the 1996 comedy Beautiful Girls. She also played Virginia Chance in the Fox sitcom Raising Hope.

She is the daughter of actor Keith Carradine.

For Disney, she played Eileen O'Neal in the ABC sitcom The Real O'Neals and voiced Yelena in the Disney animated sequel Frozen II.

Life and career[]

Born on November 16, 1970 in New York City, Plimpton is the daughter of Keith Carradine and Shelley Plimpton. She began her career as a model for Calvin Klein, and later had her first major role in film with The River Rat; her breakout in the industry was with The Goonies, which began a trend with her playing tomboyish characters.

Following the success of The Goonies, she starred in movies such as The Mosquito Coast, Shy People, Stars and Bars, and Running on Empty. Her next major and successful role came with Parenthood.

She has been in a number of television shows as well, such as ER, 7th Heaven, Grey's Anatomy, and The Good Wife. She rose to prominence again with her role as Virginia Chance in Raising Hope.

Outside of film, Plimpton has acted in a number of theater shows, including some on Broadway. She is also an advocate for abortion and LBGT rights.
